Closing Shop

August 27th, 2006

It’s been awhile since I posted here. Things have been super busy over at Writeminded. We just wrapped up our two week long partay, and I also unveiled my new blog design at my Maya Banks website. The truth, is I’m phasing this blog out because Im just too busy blogging other places, and I want to concentrate my more personal posts to my new Maya blog. You can still find me lots of places like Writeminded, Berkley Babes, Romancing the Blog and Southern Sin. (I’m taking my smilies with me :lol2: )

See you around!

Catching My Breath

August 4th, 2006

I managed to finish my last project three days ahead of schedule :weee: This summer has been SO hectic for me. I’ve had a ton to write plus I’ve been in out of the hospital every other week. Very frustrating. I’m starting to see the light though. I only have one more hospital visit (hopefully) and as soon as I finish my current story, I’ll have a lot of breathing room in which to complete my next one. I can’t wait.

The kids are going back to school next week. I swear they go back earlier every year. I don’t know the bright bulb is who keeps pushing up the start date, but hello? It’s south Texas in AUGUST. The kids can’t go out to play for most of the month because of fears of heat exhaustion. The air conditioner is usually shitty in the classrooms and when they do work, you have cold natured wimpy ass teachers who keep it turned way up and the kids are all ready to pass out.

I did most of their back to school shopping online because quite frankly, I haven’t had the fortitude to go battle the crowds. We still have to venture forth to get school supplies, but I’ve already determined that will be hubby’s job. I really don’t want to have a meltdown in the middle of Walmart.

I am so very very happy with my publishing schedule for 2007. It’s come together far better than I could have ever anticipated. And once I finish my current project, the BEST news is that I will have completed everything that is on the 2007 schedule. :cheer: Very exciting. No stressing about getting down to the wire with any of my projects.

Deadline

Nuff said. I may be back. Eventually. If I ever finish this book.

Plodding along

July 11th, 2006

I now have twenty days to finish my current project. I have about 70 more pages to go, so you do the math. If I could just hit my stride, I’d have it knocked out in a week. But the problem is, I just came off one hell of a writing jag, so I’m in the throws of letdown. NOT what needs to happen when I have back to back deadlines.

I finished two novellas in five weeks, complete with edits, revisions and rewrites. Total pages 320. That’s an average of 64 pages a week, but of course I never do a steady page count. It’s more like 100 one week. Zero the next week. Twenty the following week followed by 100 the next week.

I need to hit one of those 100 page weeks like NOW and then I’d be finished lol. And then there’s the little issue of another deadline which I have to dive into as soon as I get my current one all finished. It’s going to be a tight 6-8 weeks for me.
